The official website for the forthcoming TV anime adaptation of Wakame Konbu’s romantic comedy manga The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious has announced that its yet-titled opening theme song will be performed by Japanese idol group ≠ME (Not Equal Me).

The ex-AKB48/HKT48/STU48 member Rino Sashihara-produced 12-member idol group was formed in 2019 as a sister unit of =LOVE (Equal Love), also produced by Sashihara. The name of the group was derived from the phrase, “I want everyone to experience themselves differently from before.” They made their major debut on April 7, 2021 from King Record.

The CD single of the opening theme is scheduled to be released as their fourth single on Augsut 3, 2022. And this is the first time that they have performed a theme song for an anime series.

Message from the leader of the group, Moeko Kanisawa:

We are really surprised and happy to hear that we will perform the opening theme song for “The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious!” The anime tie-in means that our song will reach people who have never heard of us before, so we hope that not only those who love ≠ME now, but also those who love “The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious,” and those who will get to know us through the anime will say “≠ME’s song is good!” We would be happy if you love ≠ME along with our songs. Some of the members of ≠ME also love the anime, so we are happy that our songs will be played every week, and we will do our best to make this work more colorful.
