The official website for popular anime voice actress Kana Hanazawa (Kuroneko in Oreimo, Ichika Nakano in The Quintessential Quintuplets) announced on May 7 that her next 15th Single “Kakehiki wa Poker Face” (The Strategy is a Poker Face) is set to be released in Japan on July 20 and that the song will be featured as the opening theme for the summer 2022 TV anime When Will Ayumu Make His Move?, in which she is also cast as Maki, the main heroine Urushi Yaotome’s classmate.

The lyrics of “Kakehiki wa Poker Face” are written by Dan Miyakawa, who has collaborated with Hanazawa since her first single “Hoshizora☆Destination” in 2012 (as arranger), while the music was composed/arranged by KOH, known for his works for The [email protected] franchise and ClariS.

Hanazawa’s official website describes the song as “a sparkling electro dance-pop number that accompanies the frustrating feelings of people who can’t take the next step.” touches on the frustration of those who can’t take the next step.”

The TV anime adaptation of Soichiro Yamamoto’s (Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san) romantic comedy manga When Will Ayumu Make His Move? is directed by Mirai Minato (The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!), alongside series composition writer Deko Akao (Komi Can’t Communicate) and character designer Kazuya Hirata (BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.). The Silver Link-animated series is set to premiere in Japan in July 2022.
