Film and anime distributor GKIDS is on a roll this year following the success of BELLE and its recent announcements surrounding PANDA! GO PANDA! Now, the company is looking to go one step further in being the the brand dedicated to bringing the best in anime by announcing the acquisition of the NADIA: THE SECRET OF BLUE WATER TV anime from 1990.

 

 

The distributor has also announced that its acquisition includes a brand-new 4K restoration, promising a visual experience that has never been seen before for the seminal series directed by future Evangelion director Hideaki Anno. GKIDS describes the series:

 

SYNOPSIS:

It’s 1889 and people from around the globe are flocking to Paris to see scientific achievements at the Exposition Universelle despite rumors of dangers lurking in the oceans. While attending the fair, teenaged inventor Jean meets Nadia, a mysterious girl who possesses a highly sought-after crystal called Blue Water. Pursued by nefarious forces, the pair journey by sea and by sky to escape their would-be captors and to discover the secret of the crystal. 

 

More details on the release are expected in the future, with the initial confirmation that the series will be released on home video and selected digital platforms later this year.
