During the Pokémon Presents live stream tonight for Pokémon Day, the behemoth of a franchise revealed the next generation of Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Though details, such as region and more, aren’t confirmed at this stage, a tease for the world and starter Pokémon were shown off in the first teaser trailer.
By the looks of the trailer, the game seems to be running in a similar engine (and design-style) to Pokémon Legends: Arecus, but in a more modern, and very European-looking, setting. Announced after the Presents, the 9th generation starters are named Sprigatito (the Grass-type), Fuecoco (the Fire-type), and Quaxly (the Water-type). The official Pokémon Twitter account refers to the game as “open world.”
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set to launch on the Nintendo Switch in Late 2022.
